Twelve-Step programs began with
the establishment in the 1930's of the first program, Alcoholics Anonymous. Alcoholics Anonymous was adapted from a Christian
revival organization known as the Oxford Group. The Twelve Steps were written in the laboratory of human experience as people
sought God's solution for alcoholism, but they can apply to everyone.
